Transforming Liberia’s Education System: A Path to National Development

The Future of Youth Leadership in Liberia's Digital Age

As a concerned citizen of Liberia, I see both challenges and immense opportunities in our education sector. Our nation’s youth, representing over 60% of our population, deserve a quality education that prepares them for the modern world. While we have made progress since our civil conflicts, we must acknowledge that many of our schools still lack basic facilities and qualified teachers.

The COVID-19 pandemic exposed the fragility of our educational infrastructure, but it also showed our resilience. We saw innovative solutions emerge, with community learning circles and radio education programs reaching students in remote areas. However, we must do more. Our government needs to prioritize teacher training, curriculum development, and educational infrastructure, particularly in rural communities.
